Winter Updates

Took the kids to look at the art, got a picture next to my painting.

So, the Farmer’s Market has been over for a few weeks now.  During that time, I submitted a piece to a Halloween art show, which got accepted. It was exciting seeing my work hanging on a gallery wall.

I haven’t scheduled any events so far for the winter, so I’ll be using the time to focus on making new stuff, working on this site, and hopefully also making a few new videos.

Night Market

painted mandala

The Night Market starts this Thursday, downtown. Though I wasn’t able to sign up as a seasonal vendor, I did submit the paperwork to take part as a week to week vendor. I’m planning to be there selling my tote bags, paintings and jewelry. If things go well, then I’ll probably sign up as a seasonal vendor there next year as well.

I’m currently working on a few new items as well. I’ve got two beautiful mandalas painted on acrylic paper and framed in 12×12 frames which will be available on Thursday. I also will be adding some more resin items over the next few weeks.

Things have been busy around the house, so I haven’t been able to get any more videos recorded, but I am planning to sit down and record at some point this week. Please leave a comment if there’s anything you’d like to see on a video.

Moving workspace

So, I’m having a bit of a problem sorting out workspace issues. When we moved into the new house, my first thought was to work in the basement where I’d have plenty of room to spread out and nobody would be wandering through while I work. Unfortunately, there’s very little light down there and even with lamps it’s just gloomy.

When it got warm, I moved things out to our enclosed front porch figuring I could take advantage of the nice weather, but mosquitoes and the heat have begun to be a problem,  not to mention that I’d have to move when the weather got cold anyway. So now, I’m arranging storage in the dining room so I can work there and just put things away at mealtimes. At least, that will work until I figure out a better option. We’ve talked about putting a floor down in the attic and looking into using it as my studio, but it gets very hot up there as well, so I’m not certain it would work. For the moment, the dining room works well, and I’ll keep working on other options.

I am still working on new paintings and videos, which I will continue posting as I get them finished. My most recent is a multiple mandala piece done in rainbow colors on a black background. I am fairly pleased with how it turned out, though there are a few differences that I’d like to experiment with on later pieces.

Organizing and Planning

It’s been a busy week for me. I’ve been working on several new paintings, as well as my continued efforts to get this blog and other social media things caught up. There’s a third process video on my youtube channel. Please check it out, and while you’re there, subscribe and let me know what sort of videos you’d like to see me make in the future. I’ve got an instagram set up as well, and will be posting my artwork for anyone who would like to follow me there.

My Patreon page has launched, so I will begin posting mandala line art and coloring pages for my patrons.  If you’re interested in supporting my projects, please click the button to the right to visit my Patreon page.

Exciting things

So, I’ve been working to get caught up on a lot of computer and desk work this past week. I’ve updated several items in my Etsy shop, though there are still a lot of items that I need to photograph and post.  I have also set up a Youtube channel, the link is over there just under the Facebook and twitter links. So far, I’ve posted two short videos of the process of making some of my note cards.

I’m hoping to add in at least one new video a week. They’re fun to make, and I like being able to show what goes into making various items.

Over the next few days, I will also be adding in a page with printable coloring mandalas that I have drawn. I’m not sure how often I will add to those, though when I launch my Patreon, a weekly coloring page will be one of the tier rewards.

So, let me know in the comments what you would like to see me do video of or things you would like to see added to my blog.

Getting Things Back in Order

As I mentioned in my previous post, the off-season has been very busy with a lot of upheaval for us. It took longer to get reorganized than I thought it would. I finished the last of my physical therapy last month, and started our third season selling at the Alton Farmers’ and Artisan’s Market on Saturday mornings.

We’ve stepped away from the resin jewelry this year, though I have all of my previous pieces still available, both at the market and in my Etsy shop. Since I was limited in how much I could use my left hand, I began working more on my painting and mandala drawing, which I feel has improved quite a bit, even with my limitations over the winter. Once I began physical therapy, I also began working with my airbrush again, and I have a number of canvas tote bags available in my shop as well as a few drawstring backpacks.

Over the next few weeks, I have a few exiting changes planned for this blog as well, including some free printables, a patreon page, and some fun videos. What sort of things would you like to see me work on, or give instructions for? Please leave a comment below.
